The reasons, for which one can look for help of a specialist, may vary - from unexpected events that imprint a painful stigma inside, to the complex, lasting for years, minor failures, which make up the burden of the current situation.

Often, those who are considered by their environment as well-functioning and well coping with their lives, report to a psychotherapist or a psychiatrist. Such people usually search for contact with someone who will help them with formulating the problem, or - in other words - with understanding the intuitive reasons for seeking help with the problem not fully described by them. Often, one just looks for a specialist in matters one usually does not think about. We look for conditions for in-depth self-reflection.

In either situation, the first step is a consultation: conversation aiming to grasp and understand the motivation to seek help, development, support or even to satisfy curiosity.
Consultation helps understanding the mind-set, which lies at the basis of this motivation.

Another important aim of a consultation is drawing conclusions and attempting to descriptively formulate a problem. A person, who reports for help, may come to the conclusion - with the help of a specialist - that at this time he/she will not decide to take a particular form of assistance or, on the contrary, that he/she is interested in deepening of self-understanding, or at least in reducing unpleasant symptoms. If this happens, the specialist will suggest a proper form of assistance or consultation with another specialist (for example, a doctor in case of such indications), which can offer help.
